Re-weaving
Superior Rug Cleaning & Repairing Services employs the most experienced weavers to repair all types of rugs such as Persian rugs, Indian rugs, Chinese rugs as well as machine made rugs.
The first step in repairing (reweaving) a damaged area of a handmade rug is to run parallel vertical threads called warps and horizontal threads called wefts. They are set close together; the fineness of every rug depends in part on closeness of these threads. Warps appear as the fringes at the either end of every handmade rug.
Next, the weaver ties his/her first row of knots. To tie a knot the weaver will usually use only his/her fingers, but weaving in the center of a rug requires the use of a knife with a hooked end; to pool the ends of the wool out from between the warp threads. This knife is called a Tikh. The blade of this knife is used for cutting the wool after a knot has been tied. The weaver copies the design from symmetrical part of the rug to create a perfect copy of the damaged area. Every rug repair is performed by choosing the very best color matched yarns. Most of the time yarn is dyed to match existing colors in a rug.
